More is less ; Less is more

This is another topic that our lecture want us to explode it. I not so familiar with this phrase because the meaning are quite complicated and so i have do a lot of research to search for more information. Based on what i have know, More is less ; Less is more is not just merely a simple words, when they combine together it will become a unique phrase as it compound many ideas and thoughts in it. While looking at those words carefully and study it. The phrase is not simple as it look because it has its meaning inside. The meaning can be divide into 2 par which means that more is less contain its own meaning while less is more contain another meaning. It has a big different when only the front and back word had been switch place. This is just the introduction of the phrase, and now let's move on to explode the real meaning that hidden inside of this special phrase.

What i had written here is just based on my knowledge that i know about the phrase. So basically i think that the meaning of more is less is an expression which has come to mean ''Yes, that's approximately the answer''. Literally it just mean that maybe that particular person doesn't like or agree or there's extra to add on the subject being discussed. But in the point of design view, it has a meaning that sad the notion that simplify and clarity lead to a good design. It was firstly origin from a 19th century proverbial phrase. It is the first in print in Andrea del Sarto, 1855, a poem by Robert Browning :

Who strive - you don't know how the others strive
To paint a little thing like that you smeared
Carelessly passing with your robes afloat,-
Yet do much less, so much less, Someone says,
(I know his name, no matter) - so much less!

Now i'm going to show some of the example to explain more on what is truly means by the phrase.

This picture clearly show a simple design with LESS pattern and stay simple as possible.

The second picture show the same cap but with a lot MORE design on it

* when compare these 2 picture, we can conclude that a good design is not necessary to be many or lesser. More design will not always be good while less design will not always be bad but it need to depends on the theme or title which fits it.

The third picture show a good example by explain with words. It has fully describe the meaning of the whole phrase.

Finally conclusion is the meaning inside can have good impact when use it on design field, if anyone has combine use and fully understand this phrase can produce a nice artwork or design which contain many advantage. Not only that, we need to learn more about the phrase because it can greatly help us in the path of designing.

Form AND Function

Form follow function OR Function follow form ??!! ><

Form and function working together

Function need form in order to accomplish its goal just like form needed function in the first place. Without any one of them it will be just like a piece of trash and everything cant be work. This is how important where these two element must always stick together. In other word, when these two combine, it can form a principle where something functional is created and before that a form has exist in the first place. Next, we also need to learn and practice the rule of form follow function. At first getting as much information as possible about the purpose of the project that we are creating in the beginning of the design process. Finally we get to put it into a form that can support the function once you know the function of the project and the limitation and practical for putting the job together.

Now I'm going to show some of the example of form follow function :

Look at the ppicture show in right hand side, this is a luggage with a unique design on the appearance. There is a reason about this and the function of the holder is to make more easy for people to carry it all around the place whenever going travel or somewhere else. Besides that, the circle shape of the luggage also play an important role to make it move more easily. It will make it much more harder to the host that carry it if the shape are make of square or triangle.

This is another example of form follow function, the picture show the famous Guggenheim Museum which is a good of Wright's application of the principle. it's spiral shape all over the building was intended to allow visitors to easily view the artwork within the building. That's why the museum was famous because it has apply principle of form follow function in it.

Combination of great form and function can give amazing and many advantage to us...

It has help make our life more easier and so we must treasure this knowledge...

Brief On Project 2

Branding @ Bus Stop

This project is to pick one local product or service that been given from the list to design a bus top with our creativity.

I found that this would be an interesting project because bus-stops is a designated place where all the buses come by to stop for passengers to board or leave it. It is one of the greatest creation in the world because it is very popular and it also has been use by many people everyday through out the world til now.

Not only that, bus stops are also a popular place for advertisers as many people will come in contact with at least 1 bus-stops everyday from every walk of lives use public transports or commute to work. So whenever we're waiting bus at bus-stops sure can see a lot of advertisement or media types. This is another great function about a bus-stops.

Now I'm going to show some picture about creatives BUS-STOPS :

Public transport has bring many advantage to us so that we can travel to another place more easily, imagine a world that don't have bus services. I think that would be a disaster as not everyone can afford to buy a car.

We must take care of public transport cause it is very useful to us ~=D

Video - R.E.D

I'm going to share an interesting video about environmental design. The designs are fantastic and the before afters are just unbelievable. It was done by designer from the company with the name of R.E.D, it does not mean retired extremely dangerous '' a movie that show recently '' . It stands for Robinson Environmental Design. Green Building

In the century of 21th, we all know that our mother earth have been serious polluted and this problem is getting worse day by day. So at here i'm wanted to post an interesting post about a great design that been created which can save the life of this world. This is call " GREEN BUILDING ''.

Green building is also mean by green construction or sustainable building, the structure of the building life-cycle is environmentally responsible and resources efficient. Not only that, in the process of expanding this project are well concern of economy, utility, durability and comfort not only from design, construction, operation, maintenance, renovation and demolition.

These building are design for:

• Save energy, water and other sources
• gives protection and increase productivity
• Reducing waste and pollution

* Examples of green building

.........These people have design this building to save our planet. After you guys see this, i hope that we all can support this activity and help save our home by take care the environment to ensure we always have a clean and comfort place to live in the future !!!! xD

Projects 1 - ENVIRONMENTAL GRAPHICS

MONUMENT SIGN : INFORMATIONAL & DIRECTIONAL SIGNAGE

I've been given a task to identify one building in Cyberjaya/Putrajaya which don't have any signage and graphics to identifying them. After that we need to design a monument sign which is suitable to identify the building.

After that, i have taken several entrance picture of the building located Cyberjaya to have a better choice for the projects. A great monument sign is meant to be give a clear instruction to the people around and is better to located at a good visibility place like entrance of that particular building.

Out of all the selection pictures, i decide to choose FSBM company building. The FSBM group is one of the Malaysian's leading information technol

ogy service and system provider, it is located at FSBM plaza 3539, Jalan Teknokrat 7, 63000 Cyberjaya.

I found out that in front of the building is a nice location to have a monument because it has a great open place and is just right beside the road. By having this advantage it is more easy for the driver that passing by to notice it. Alright now come to an end of my 1st part of project 1, by next time i'm going to show u all the finish work for the monument signs.
